Gait — Delete Your Account

You can delete your Gait account at any time. This page explains how, what gets removed, and what to do if you can't access the app.
Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open Gait
- Go to My Profile (tab on The Stable)
- Tap Settings (gear icon)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm
Deletion happens immediately. You will be signed out and your data will be removed from our active systems.
Delete if you can't access the app
If you can't sign in or no longer have the app installed, email hello.gait.app@gmail.com from the email address associated with your Gait account. Include:
- The email address you used to sign in (Apple ID or Google)
- A short note confirming you'd like your account deleted
We'll verify the request and delete the account within seven days. We may ask one or two questions to confirm it's really you before proceeding.
What gets deleted
Tapping Delete Account permanently removes:
- Your profile (display name, username, avatar, bio)
- Every horse you've added, including photos, conditions, and notes
- All care schedules and health events
- All rides — manual and GPS-tracked — and their photos, routes, and notes
- All saved trails
- All posts, captions, comments, and likes
- Everyone you follow and everyone who follows you
- All blocks you've set
- Your authentication account itself
Once deletion is complete, this data cannot be recovered.
What may persist briefly
- An anonymized audit row (no personal information) recording the date the deletion happened
- Encrypted database backups that overwrite on a rolling cycle (within 30 days)
- Aggregated, non-identifying analytics that can no longer be tied to you
- Financial records we're required to keep for tax and accounting purposes (no contact information, no horse data)
- Content other users may have copied outside the app (screenshots, exports) — outside our control
Subscription cancellation
Deleting your Gait account does not automatically cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us.
To cancel:
- Open your phone's Settings
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Tap Gait
- Tap Cancel Subscription
If you delete your Gait account before canceling, you'll continue to be billed until you cancel through Apple. We recommend canceling first, then deleting.
